Al Ingram | Leadership Coach for High Tech | The Human A.I.
I help high-tech professionals and leaders evolve, not just in their careers, but in how they live and lead every day.
I'm calm, caring, curious, professional, evolving, and a lifelong geek. I’m also a coach, a leader, a musician, and a gay man navigating the same complex world as everyone else. My coaching is grounded in empathy, structure, and insight, shaped by decades of experience leading in tech.
From Engineer to Executive to Coach
For over 35 years, I worked in the software industry: from my first job as a developer in aerospace, to senior roles in IT, customer support, product ops, M&A, and more. I was a VP of Operations, a Senior Director of IT, and a hands-on change leader in fast-moving environments. I know the rewards and challenges of leading in high-tech, especially the toll it can take on your energy, identity, and well-being.
I became a coach to help others lead with more clarity, care, and ease, and to create the kind of change that actually lasts.
Why I Coach
What makes people happy? What gives us energy and purpose? What gets in our way and how do we get unstuck?
I’ve always been drawn to the deeper questions of how humans work. That geeky curiosity fuels my love of coaching and my training in frameworks like Positive Intelligence® and Energy Leadership™, along with my continued study of psychology, neuroscience, mindfulness, and spirituality (mostly Buddhism). These aren't just tools I use; they’re practices I live.
A Few More Things About Me
I was the kid who tore apart his dad’s electric train to figure out how it worked. Mr. Spock is still my hero. I hold a BS in Applied Math and Computer Science and have always found joy in systems that help us make meaning.
I’m also a lifelong singer. I’ve performed with the Boston Gay Men’s Chorus since 1996 and have found music to be one of my greatest sources of connection and care.
Being gay shaped how I’ve experienced leadership, belonging, and visibility throughout my life. That’s part of why I care so deeply about helping people show up fully, without compartmentalizing who they are.
I’ve lived and worked in the Boston area since 1992.
